Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know when to refer my child to a Speech-Language Pathologist?
If you have concerns around your child's speech, language or feeding development, please contact a Speech-Pathologist so they can help you further understand whether now is an appropriate time to seek support. You can visit our instagram page for information around early developmental milestones.
Is virtual therapy effective?
At connect the dots, we use a variety of therapy approaches to best serve the needs of our patient. Teletherapy is an effective mode of therapy for a majority of speech and language concerns. While in-person therapy would be ideal, we have found that in light of COVID-19, with family support, a majority of our clients are continuing to make adequate progress via teletherapy.
What if I am not sure my child needs speech therapy?
If you are unsure whether speech therapy is appropriate for your family right now, set up a time to discuss this with our Speech-Language Pathologist prior to setting up a consultation. They can help you think through the pros and cons and determine whether the support will be helpful at this time.
How often do you recommend speech-language services?
Depending on the age of the client and the reason for seeking services, we determine the frequency of therapy in coordination with the family. We see clients 1-3 times a week for between 30-60 minutes.
